I got a call from my boyfriend on Monday telling me that his doctor had requested he come in after he canceled his appointment in the morning. The Doctor was willing to forgo the co-pay and make time to see him after hours. This sounded serious to me, so I offered to go along. I’m so glad I did.
The doctor diagnosed my boyfriend with a rare form of Nasal NK/Killer T-Cell Lymphoma. It seems so surreal that at 34, he would have to deal with this. But here we are.
Even though I am absolutely terrified, I’m also trying to look at this as an opportunity to improve our lives. It’s a wake up call to embrace the healthy lifestyle we appreciate so much, but may not have been as disciplined as we’d like to be.
Now embracing that healthy lifestyle could mean the difference between life and death. There’s no room for excuses or putting it off for another day. There’s no room for anything else but hope and faith at this time.
